Rumor: Australian Classification Board Outs Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – Game of the Year Edition

Last year among new entries in many popular series, Monolith Productions’ Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor stood tall as one of the most acclaimed new titles of the year taking home numerous awards and topping many Top 10 lists – as such, it appears a celebratory “Game of the Year Edition” may be on the way.

A tweet sent out by the AusVGClassifications Twitter account, an unofficial account that documents the latest ratings from the Australian Classification Board, has revealed a new listing for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – Game of the Year Edition, with the classification submitted with an “MA15+” rating.

While the tweet contains little other information from that, aside from the fact that Warner Bros. submitted the title for certification from the Australian ratings board, it’s hard to know at this time if the title is actually on the way or not, as neither Warner Bros. or Monolith Productions have officially confirmed a GOTY Edition of the title.

Given the huge reception that Shadow of Mordor received when it released last fall though, it would seem like the title is a likely candidate to receive a GOTY Edition – as with other editions for other titles in a similar nature, it can be expected that the new edition would contain the original title plus any post-launch DLC and extra content.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC – stay tuned for more details and official confirmation on a “Game of the Year Edition” arriving for the uruk-slaying action title.
