Amidst all of the hype and notoriety that accompanies the Resident Evil series, it easy to forget that Capcom has ventured outside of the aforementioned franchise to make games within the same genre on more than one occasion.

Haunting Ground (known as Demento in Japan), released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2, was recently rated as M for mature by the ESRB for the PlayStation 3. After its original release, the game was met with mixed to positive criticism and has seen no exposure aside from its initial outing save for a cameo by two of its characters – Fiona and Hewie – in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

Speculation has begun to circulate the game will either benefit from a straight re-release on the PlayStation Network or perhaps even an HD remastering. The game is pretty rare (I just bought a copy recently for about 40 dollars…excuse me while I head-desk), so this is a great opportunity for those who never got a chance to pick up a copy seven years ago. No official word has been released by Capcom or Sony on the reason for the recent rating.
