Heavenly Sword was one of my favorite early memories on my PlayStation 3. The balance of action and cinematic flair told an intriguing, if not short, story about the sword itself and the characters that surround it. Now there are rumblings that Sony has commissioned another development studio to produce a sequel to the title.

The sequel will apparently feature open-world gameplay and take place 10 years after the events in the original title. Assuming this rumor is true, I'm a bit disappointed that Ninja Theory will not be developing it, because I feel they are the ones that made the game have such a wonderful, cinematic quality, and that was one of the things that drew me to this action title, which I otherwise probably wouldn't have played.

It is possibly, if this is true, we'll see mention of it in just a few weeks at E3, but until then, this is firmly filed under the rumor category.
