Rumor: Yakuza 3 Being Localized for Western Release

on September 21, 2009 8:00 AM

Yakuza 3 (known as Ryū ga Gotoku 3 in Japan) may see the light of day in North American and Europe, after all.  1UP is reporting that the PS3-exclusive title is currently being localized for a western release by Sega.  In the past, Sega has mentioned that a Western release is unlikely.  Could it be that fan support has spurred on a Western localization?  Only time will tell, as this bit of new is only in the “rumor” stage at the moment.

Yakuza 3 takes place on the island of Okinawa, where the hero from the previous game helps run an orphanage. This orphanage just happens to be on land that is owned by Shigeru Nakahara, the boss of a mob known as the Ryudo Ikka. Nakahara is under heavy pressure from the country’s government to sell the land. Kiryu, of course, finds himself in many dangerous situations that you’re likely to find yourself in when you deal with the Japanese mafia.

If this title sounds like something you’ll be interested in, definitely keep an eye on this rumor. You know we will.
