Sony interactive Entertainment's commercials for Japan are almost always of the hilarious sort, and today the house of PlayStation released two new ones advertising the newly launched "PS4 Get Chance" campaign, designed to push the console during the country's long Holiday shopping season (that normally spans from the second week of December to the first of January).

Both commercials star popular Densha Otoko actor Takayuki Yamada, who has been the local face of PlayStation for quite a while

In the first, Yamada-san plays a journalist aggressively approaching the Japanese Prime Minister (Ren Osugi, who also played the role of Prime Minister Seiji Okochi in the recent Shin Godzilla film), and asks whether he'll purchase a PS4, and the PM gives the typical political response that it's "under consideration." The Journalist presses on by mentioning the release of Yakuza 6, The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy XV, but the politician stubbornly reiterates that it's under consideration.

As Yamada-san pushes further, Osugi-san responds "but is there a future?" At that point, the Journalist delivers the list of upcoming PS4 games: Gran Turismo Sport, New Hot Shots Golf, the "legendary" Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Dragon Quest XI. This moves the PM, ending with a final hug.

The second commercial is perhaps less impactful, but it's still rather hilarious. Yamada-san's character is at a year-end karaoke party with his colleagues, and one expresses his uncertainity on whether to purchase a PS4. Yamada-san grabs the microphone and starts singing "Imada, Imada!" (which means "it's now, it's now!"), as a parody of the popular "Linda, Linda" by The Blue Hearts, only to get interrupted by the waiter (standing on the couch is a big no-no), but soon he's joined by the whole group.

The "PS4 Get Chance" campaign starts today and ends on January 8th, offering chances to win prizes like PlayStation  VR headsets to customers who purchase a PS4 or PS4 Pro from a participating Japanese retailers.

After you check out the commercials below, alongside a making-of video, you can also enjoy the previous PS4 commercial (featuring Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare) starring Yamada-san. Unfortunately, older ones get removed periodically from Sony's channel. That's a pity, because some were absolutely hilarious.
