SEGA of America today announced the release of their Total War map editor. The editor enables players to create and mod their own custom maps for use in Shogun 2 and its expansion Fall of the Samurai. Creative Assembly Brand Director Rob Bartholomew stated that the developers wanted to make sure that they supported the "strong and dedicated modding community" prevalent in the Total War games.

Completely free, "The Editor" features the ability to adjust terrain height and type. Also featured is a comprehensive library comprised of multiple props, including trees, buildings, and railway lines. After a map is created, it can be used in any custom VS AI or multiplayer battle, and can be automatically shared with opponents.
