Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter Steam Special

Our Contributing Editor Jon Ireson was in love with Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter. He spent over a month playing the game religiously, constantly teasing the rest of the staff at how amazing the game was. Lucky for us, Steam will play host to a free-for-all multiplayer event this upcoming weekend, from July 8 until July 11, which will give us some insight at what Jon’s obsession was all about.

Aside from hosting a free-for-all event, Steam will also be offering the game at 50% off – $10, folks. This might seem like amazing news for those of us who have yet played the HD remake, but not everyone is seeing this as a cheery event. Fork Parker, Devolver Digital’s head honcho, wasn’t too fond of not knowing these details.

“This is total bulls—,” Parker said. “How are we supposed to make any money by giving away our sweet multiplayer juice for free?” Apparently, Parker doesn’t seem to realize that you need to make more than just one game to be a financial success in this industry. Especially if the game wasn’t/isn’t considered a triple-A title.
