Shadowrun Will Indeed Return After Reaching Kickstarter Funding Goal in Little More than a Day

on April 5, 2012 11:35 AM

Yesterday marked the opening of the Kickstarter campaign to fund Shadowrun Returns, the rebirth of the prestigious Shadowrun franchise in turn based 2D RPG form.

Today marks another important day: the fans have spoken and have put their money where their mouth is, as the funding goal of 400,000 dollars has been reached in little more than twentyfour hours thanks to almost 9,000 backers.

Kickstarter is proving to be a real gold mine for veteran developers trying to bring back to life beloved franchises and genres from the golden age of gaming, without having to pass under the yoke of the Caudine Forks represented by the publishers, that often reject that kind of project due to its niche nature or push for an excessive modernization.

Personally I’m quite eager to see where¬†Jordan Weisman and Harebrained Schemes will bring the Shadowrun franchise. If you feel the same way and you haven’t pledged your support yet, you may want to consider doing so here. While the goal has bee reached, a bigger budget will mean a better game for us all to enjoy.
