Atlus has updated their official Japanese site for their upcoming Nintendo 3DS game, Shin Megami Tensei IV, that details the game's battle system.

Players will be able to exploit enemies weaknesses in a way similar to Persona and Devil Survivor that allows for more actions to be taken in battle. Some battles will see the player's party facing off against an army of enemies that requires weaknesses to be found to prevent being attacked by waves of enemies.

During battle, characters will begin to grin, which increases a character's strength and makes their weakness ineffective for a time. But, enemies also have the ability to grin and change the tide of battle against the player.

Those that may be having difficulty with the game can change the difficulty at any time that changes how the game is played. Players will also be able to save and load the game at any time.

When the player's party is wiped out, they will be sent to the river Styx. Here players may choose to return to battle by paying the ferryman of Styx, Karon, in Makkah coins.

Shin Megami fans will be happy to know that the staples of the series will be there with weaknesses to take advantage of and new players will be able to jump in without being intimidated by the difficulty that the series can be known for at times.
