Aspyr Media has today announced that they're porting the acclaimed strategy title Civilization VI to the Linux platform.

Aspyr’s Vice President of Publishing Elizabeth expressed that enthusiasm for the title was quite high and that the team has even received gifts of thanks for taking on the project:

“This is by far the most requested game we get asked for by the Linux community. Besides daily inquiries asking for Sid Meier’s Civilization® VI, we’ve also received 12 dozen warm chocolate chip cookies as well as squishy Linux penguins toys for the entire office. To say that we are excited to bring Sid Meier’s Civilization® VI to Linux is an understatement.”

With a sky high Metacritic score of 88, it's clear why Linux players are eager to get their hands on Civilization VI, which is currently available for PC and Mac.

We'll have to wait a bit longer for a specific release date, but the game is due on Linux "soon".
