Simpsons Arcade Game Hits Consoles This Week

In honor of The Simpsons’  500th episode, Konami tips its hat to the mid ’90s arcade crowd this week by releasing a port of its classic, The Simpsons Arcade Game.

For those of you who missed it, the game is a classic beat ’em up chock full of references to the long running cartoon sitcom, with enough weird, fun little twists to keep you punching, skateboarding, jump-roping, and vacuuming — yes, vacuuming — your way through the eight stages of Springfield.

As an added bonus, Konami has included two modes of play beyond the arcade standard: a Survival Mode in which players only get one life, and a Free Play Mode with unlimited continues, for those ‘decaf’ brawlers out there. The game is currently available via Xbox Live for 800 Microsoft Points, and drops for the Playstation Network Tuesday, Feb. 7th, for $9.99.

Sto Austin is the man. Period. When not saving the world from the next generation of Metal Gears or throwing hadoukens at his detractors, chances are he's writing about someone else doing something similarly epic, possibly whilst smoking a cigar. He enjoys games with a strong emphasis on story, which typically fall into the RPG, Action/Adventure, or Horror genres, though he also has a soft spot for fighting games and has been known, when feeling saucy, to shred on some Guitar Hero or Rock Band. He currently divides his time between Florida and Maine, tromping up and down the East coast according to the whims of fate and fortune.
