Turns out I’m not the only one who has been enjoying the amazing Skullgirls. The developers have announced via the game’s Twitter that, in just ten days, the game has been purchased 50,000 times. This figure includes global sales across both platforms. While these numbers obviously wouldn’t be impressive for a full priced title, the sales are quite good for a downloadable game, not to mention a fighter.
What’s more is that this feat was achieved without European PSN sales, as the game won’t be available on that service until May 2nd. The devs are also keeping good on their promise that we’d get a patch (including well needed additions and changes, like command lists) if the game sold well enough. According to the Twitter page, work on the first update for the game is well under way.
As if all of that wasn’t great news, the Skullgirls Original Soundtrack is apparently the top selling Jazz, Electronic, Soundtrack and General Album on Amazon.jp right now. It’s truly exciting and inspiring to see such a small and obscure fighting game get the success it deserves. If you want to know why Skullgirls is definitely worth your money, check out our review.
