Skullgirls Fundraiser Clears $750,000 in Donations, Funds More Stuff

on March 27, 2013 8:30 PM

Labzero’s Skullgirls fundraiser will close in a few more hours. Over the last month, the game’s incredibly passionate fan base has donated more than three quarters of a million dollars and funded the development of four new characters – complete with stages, theme songs and story mode campaigns – as well as additional announcer packs, stages and more wonderful goodies.

As promised, Lab Zero will also now allow My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic developer Mane6 to use the Skullgirls game engine for free to create their new game (which won’t exactly be My Little Pony related considering the developer recently received a cease and desist letter from Hasbro – read more about that here).

If by some some miracle the fundraiser manages to pull in another $70,000 before it closes tonight, Lab Zero will develop a fifth new DLC character. Whether or not that goal is met, the Skullgirls community has truly accomplished something remarkable with this fundraiser, and we should all be proud of ourselves. The vote for the mystery 3rd DLC character will be conducted soon, but remember you have to donate at least  $1 to earn your right to vote.

Learn more about the vote here and donate here.
