Skyrim Suffers Lag on PS3

The Playstation 3 version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim may have gorgeous and better texture rendering than its Xbox 360 counterpart, but all that is gold does not glitter. PS3 players have been reporting cases of crippling lag in which the game slows to a dragging crawl.

The problem may be within the save files, as files that reach 5-6 MB become slow enough to be unbearable — and unplayable. Quest completion and interaction with NPCs seems to halt altogether. Resetting the console may fix the lag, but the problem begins anew after an hour or so of gameplay.

Bethesda’s forums are teeming with sorrowful Skyrim players, lamenting their woes as they attempt their quest to enjoy the frakking game. Hopefully the developer releases a patch for this soon.
