SNK has announced that it plans to bring the arcade version of the King of Fighters XIII up to date with the console version via an update named Climax. This update will most likely bring the console exclusive characters to arcades, in addition to the numerous balance changes across the entire cast. This reveal comes by way of Famitsu. The exact release date for the update has yet to be determined, but SNK will be holding two location tests for the game in Japan next week.

These will take place on February 11th and 12t at Club Sega Akihabara and Sega Namba Avion. KOFXIII: Climax is purely service for Japanese arcade-goers, considering the superior console version of the game is already available worldwide. The first patch for the console version of the game was only recently released after a multiple month wait, so this arcade update has probably been planned for quite a while. If you haven't picked up the fantastic KOFXIII yet, you certainly should.
