Sonic Boom, the upcoming reboot of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is indeed being developed with 'seasoned' gamers in mind, but they are not the focus of the developers. If you have not guessed by the game's aesthetic and art style, Sonic Boom is being targeted for a much younger audience, unfamiliar with the blue hedgehog.

In a recent interview, Big Red Button's (co-developers of Sonic Boom) Bob Rafei stated that Sonic Boom's primary audience is, "Kids 6-11 and shared local play experiences with friends or families." He further explained that the development team has, "set out to make Boomsimply fun by finding the right balance of accessibility for new fans, yet have enough challenge, depth and player expression for established fans or more seasoned gamers."

Sonic Boom is being developed by Big Red Button Entertainment alongside Sanzaru Games and will be published by Sega for the Wii U and 3DS later this year.
