Yesterday, Sonic Forces was revealed at SXSW 2017, and today you can finally see more. The game will be an evolution of the formula of two Sonic game, Generations and Colors.

The Sonic Team chose these two games after looking at all the modern Sonic titles released in the previous years, paying close attention to the high and low points. During their research, the team would end up putting aside any low points they found and keep all the high points, with two of these high points being Generations and Colors.

There are three different modes of gameplay: Modern, Classic, and a third yet to be revealed.

The gameplay released is from the modern mode and shows a scene of Sonic running through a city that is being invaded by the evil Eggman. In the story, Eggman has conquered a significant part of the world, and has seemingly won the fight against Sonic and friends. However, Sonic hasn't given up just yet, and that's all we currently know about the story.

Additionally, just like in Sonic Colors, you can release little Wisps scattered throughout the level, that fill Sonic's boost bar located in the bottom left of the screen. With the press of a button players can use this bar to boost through the lanes.

Sonic Forces is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch in the Holiday season 2017.
