Sonic: Lost World’s Inaugural Trailer Arrives at Sonic Speeds

It has been two years since a major Sonic the Hedgehog game was released on consoles. November 1st, 2011 saw the launch of Sonic Generations on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and 3DS. The game was a mixture of 2D and 3D Sonic levels from past iterations in the franchise, brought together in one big love-letter to the fans. Sonic: Lost World (because it makes much more sense with a colon) looks to be the natural evolution of what was done in Generations.

The trailer depicts the alien-looking main antagonists of the game and Sonic blasting through courses in both 2D and 3D formats. The “lost world” itself is very reminiscent of the world seen at the (good) end of Sonic CD.

Sonic: Lost World has been announced as the first title, part of a five-year exclusivity deal between Nintendo and Sega to develop and publish Sonic the Hedgehog video games exclusively on the Wii U and 3DS. The game is slated for a late 2013 release.
