Sonic Mania Announced for Switch; New Trailer Released

Last night, Sega confirmed that Sonic Mania (being developed by Headcannon and PagodaWest Games), a new Sonic the Hedgehog 2D platformer, is coming to Nintendo Switch, alongside the previously announced PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and now Nintendo Switch, sometime in spring 2017.

Further details, such as whether or not the game takes advantage of any of the Switch’s unique features, was not divulged.

First time hearing about Sonic Mania? No problem — here’s a brief overview:

2D Sonic is back in an all-new adventure! Play as Sonic, Tails, & Knuckles as you race through all-new Zones and fully re-imagined classics, each filled with exciting surprises and powerful bosses. Harness Sonic’s new Drop Dash, Tails’ flight, and Knuckles’ climbing abilities to overcome the evil Dr. Eggman’s robots. Discover a myriad of never-before-seen hidden paths and secrets!
