Sony Announces KickBeat with Debut Trailer and Screenshots

Sony Computer Entertainment announced today that KickBeat, a new rhythm game for the PS Vita, is in development at Zen Studios, and will be released this year. It will be also officially showcased at E3.

The game will feature a rather new and refreshing take on the genre, getting rid of interface crutches and prompting the player to focus on the action on the screen instead. It will also have a story, revolving around a lovestruck and unlikely hero drawn into a battle for control of the world’s music. Characters will play a central role in the game’s story.

KickBeat will include 18 tracks across multiple genres (mostly drum & bass, rock, and hip-hop), but will also have a feature that will let you import your own tracks without any scripting involved.

You can check out the debut trailer, the official logo, and a few screenshots below.
