Days Gone featured prominently at Sony’s E3 press conference, and Epic Games released a video starring Sony Bend Studio Director Christopher Reese, as he explains the project.

Reese gives an overview of the game, clarifying that it’s based on a “very strong narrative,” and explains how using Unreal Engine 4 helped the studio prototyping the game in the concept phase until they found the direction they wanted.

We also learn that the engine allows the team to iterate easily and get the assets in the game quickly, with the level of quality that they need. Last, but not least, they actually modified Unreal Engine 4 to fit their development needs.
