Sony Computer Entertainment just sent a press release commenting on the latest North American NPD figures for March, that saw the PS4 beat the Xbox One for the third month in a row. Senior Vice President of PlayStation Brand Marketing Guy Longworth also mentioned further supply constraints and the high demand for inFAMOUS: Second Son.

Today’s NPD report confirmed that PlayStation 4 was No. 1 in sales for March and extended its cumulative lead for next generation game consoles, despite continued supply constraints. NPD also highlighted that PlayStation sold the most total consoles and demand for inFAMOUS Second Son was extremely strong.

Longworth also commented further on Twitter:

NPD confirms PS4 #1 in console sales for March – Thanks to our fans & our team. So much great stuff coming!

It remains to be seen just how long supply will remain constrained. The house of PlayStation previously went on record promising that it will start matching demand properly by the summer, and we can only hope for that to be true.

Just yesterday Sony Computer Entertainment announced that the PS4 sold through over seven million units, showing an amazingly constant rate of growth of its installed base since January.
