Sony Confirms Plans to Bring PS2 Classics to PS4

Most of you probably guessed it already a while ago when Sony announced a trio of Star Wars PS2 classics to be bundled with the Darth Vader PS4, but it’s always good to have confirmation by way of Wired.

A Sony rep confirmed with a brief message that PS2 emulation technology is being used to bring back classics from the old console, and revive then on PS4.

“We are working on utilizing PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation. We have nothing further to comment at this point in time.”

It’ll be interesting to see how widely this tech will be used, but I definitely would not expect to see any kind of free backward compatibility implemented any time soon.

It’ll most probably be structured in the same fashion as the classics releases on PS3.
