Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia announced today with a press release that the upcoming free to play online RPG Destiny of Spirits is going to enter a simultaneous worldwide beta test phase soon.

The test will be held between October the 24th and November the 1st, while the application process for it will start today and end on the 16th.

The game is the result of a new collaboration between SCE Japan Studio and Lumines developer Q Entertainment, and prompts players to breed and command an army of upgradable "spirits", fighting each other in turn-based battles.

During the beta players will be able to enjoy the game's contents (every area and spirit) without any limitation or level cap. In-game events will be held and special crossover characters (probably with other Sony franchises, even if this is just my personal speculation) will be offered.

The beta is announced as worldwide, so we can probably expect information on how to enter soon. The press release is from SCEJA, and it prompts Japanese players to download a special ticket from the PSN Store. The ticket is not yet available on the North American PSN, so we'll have to wait on that. Selected beta testers will be announced on October the 23rd.

We'll keep you updated as soon as we receive information on how western gamers will be able to enter. In the meanwhile you can check out the announcement trailer from E3 below.
