Today Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe released a new series of ads for its premium subscription service PlayStation Plus, showing a bunch of gamers as they talk about their experiences, mostly with online gaming.

Yet, there's an interesting little Easter egg. In one of the ads, gamer "Laura" talks about her first consoles, and besides the obvious mention of the PS2, we also get a rare shoutout to Nintendo's GameCube, that isn't just named, but even represented visually.

On top of that, "Tom" explains that his father was a big PC gamer. While we're not exactly talking about a rival console brand here, it's certainly an interesting mention.

It's normally quite rare to see console a manufacturer's promotional materials officially namedrop a competing console, even if one from generations past, unless it's in a fairly competitive manner. It appears that the folks at SIEE's marketing division didn't really mind giving their ancient rivals from Kyoto a nod.
