It's not an every day occurrence to see Sony Interactive Entertainment and Nintendo announcing two special limited edition consoles at the same time, and for the same game, and yet it just happened, even if just for the Japanese market.

Sony announced the PlayStation 4 Dragon Quest Loto Edition, to be released in Japan day and date with Dragon Quest XI (on July 29th) for 39,980 yen plus taxes. Pre-orders will start tomorrow, April 29th.

The console is a 1 TB CUH-2000 (standard PS4 slim) model, and comes with a metal slime that attaches to the USB port, and a copy of the game. It also includes a custom theme and a special box.

On top of that, Sony also released a trailer, which you can see below alongside a few pictures.

Not to be outdone, Nintendo announced the New Nintendo 2DS XL Hagure Metal Edition, also releasing on July 29th for 22,480 yen plus taxes.

Like its sony counterpart, the package will include a slime on the top clam, a custom theme, a copy of the game, and it's absolutely charming. You can contemplate its pictures in the gallery, and cry because it's unlikely that we'll get either console in the west.

Dragon Quest XI will come on July 29th for PS4 and 3DS, with a Nintendo Switch release also planned, but left without a release window, for the moment.

If you want to see more of Dragon Quest XI, you can enjoy gameplay from the PS4 version, some from the 3DS versionnew screenshots and trailers, and the box art for both the PS4 and 3DS versions, on top of quite a few screenshots featuring recently announced characters and some featuring the old dear Spell of Restoration and the Skill Panel.
