Sony Corporation just published the presentation slides for today's Corporate Strategy Meeting, which will be held in Tokyo, and it comes with an interesting piece of information about the PlayStation Network.

According to the documentation, Sony's PlayStation-centric online service has now reached a total of 70 million monthly active users, which is definitely a respectable amount.

For the sake of comparison, Xbox Live has hovered between 52 and 55 million monthly active users in the last two quarters.

On top of that, we also get a confirmation of the fotrecast predicting that Sony will ship 78 million PS4 units by March 31st, 2018.

It's worth mentioning that the number of monthly active users does not give a clear indication on how many of those are actually paying customers, as access to the PlayStation Network is free. No data was provided, for the moment, about members of paying services like PlayStation Plus.

Update: Sony released further data, announcing that PlayStation Plus subscribers were at 26.4 million by March 31st, 2017.
