Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia teased the return of the PocketStation in some form a few days ago, and today indeed they delivered, releasing a free app for PlayStation Plus users only (at least for now) named PocketStation for PlayStation Vita.

According to the notice on the Japanese PSN store, the app is free to download only until December the 2nd, and it basically does what the PocketStation did back in the glorious times of the first PlayStation: it will work with the PlayStation classics that were compatible with the original memory card/companion device hybrid, reactivating those additional features and minigames that were lost until now.

Below you can see three official pictures of the application. Of course there's no word, for the moment, on a possible western localization of the app.
