Sony Resumes PS4 Preorders in Japan After Stocks Ran Out Almost Instantly Last Week

on October 9, 2013 8:07 AM

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia announced today that preorders of the First Limited Pack of the PS4 (in both versions with and without the camera) have been resumed today on its own Japanese online store.

When the floodgates for preorders were opened last week, allocated quantities almost instantly ran out, causing malcontent between many Japanese gamers that did not manage to reserve their console.

We’ll have to see how long stocks will last this time around, but those that are still looking to get the PS4 on launch day in Japan now have a second chance. The announcement mentions that the company secured more stock for launch day (February the 22nd), so customers shouldn’t worry about receiving their purchase as soon as the console hits the shelves.

It’s also worth mentioning that at the moment of this writing preorders are only available at Sony’s own online store, while all major retailers still mark the console as sold out.
