Sony Computer Entertainment announced that on March 15th they entered into a deal with Unity Technologies to make the engine available to PlayStation devices. The devices that are covered in this deal are the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation Mobile.

Those not familiar with Unity, Unity created the game engine, Unity 3D, that is used to power many 3D games for various devices including some PlayStation 3 games. What this deal does is make it easier for game developers to create their games in the engine and port them over to various devices without having to rewrite code. Unity 3D specializes in porting games to various devices.

For game developers this will be very exciting since this makes focusing on game design easier instead of dealing with issues such as porting. This is better news for gamers as they will be able to see more games on each of the supported devices. The engine will also allow for trophy support to be implemented in games meaning that trophy hoarders have nothing to worry about as well. This deal also means that Vita features can be implemented to games with ease.

This is great news for both game developers and gamers since the easier it is to make games the more games become available to gamers on many platforms.
