During Sony’s quarterly conference calls for Japanese investors and analysts, Chief Financial Officer Kenichiro Yoshida talked about the performance of the PS4, mentioning that the company’s game business can continue to seek a growth in scale thanks to the console’s momentum.

“The game division can continue to seek scale by capitalizing on the strong momentum of the PS4.”

During the following conference call for foreign investors, Yoshida-san elaborated on the fact the company aims yo grow the PS4 business in scale, including the PSN, with the goal of “turning the PlayStation network into a truly comprehensive global entertainment platform.”

Considering how much the PS4 is doing in offsetting less than stellar performance from other segments of Sony’s business, it’s not too surprising that Sony wants to bet on the PlayStation brand.
