Sony Computer Entertainment Publisher & Developer Relations Honcho Adam Boyes had interesting things to say today on the future of the PS4 platform, and specifically on the what he defines “crowd input” for video streaming, which is the “interact” feature built into the PS4 livestreaming interface:
We built crowd input into our streaming API in the #PS4 – can’t wait to see more devs integrate external inputs like #twitchplayspokemon
It’s definitely interesting to see the recent and extremely popular “Twitch Plays Pokémon” brought as an example of what the feature may entail in the future, and Boyes also gave another very intriguing example on how it could be used:
Totally! Or choosing the next enemy behind a locked door.
He also mentioned that more is coming down the line.
And it’s been in since Day 1 – Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition (coming March 4th) i.s the 1st GREAT example… More to come.
He also teased what he saw at the Destination PlayStation behind-closed-doors event for publishers and retailers:
Great to see so many awesome partners, publishers & friends this week at Destination PlayStation. So many great things happening, stay tuned.
And we’ll definitely stay tuned. Of course you can expect all upcoming PlatStation news to be covered in-depth here on DualShockers. Does “greatness” await? We’ll have to wait and see, as Boyes didn’t give any further detail.
