Today Square Enix announced a brand new multimedia entertainment project titled "Dia Horizon."

The announcement came with a trailer illustrating the world view, and a couple of pieces of artwork.

At the moment, the first part of the project will be an anime TV series, which will be broadcasted in Japan starting in October, but apparently there will be one or more games as well. While they have not been officially announced for now, the official site's description labels it explicitly as a "game title" and the keywords include "smartphone."

On top of the anime there are seven areas of the site yet to uncover, so there definitely is room for a game or multiple.

The press release mentions that the project is a new form of fantasy storytelling with the story of the world progressing through each of the project's parts.

Square Enix President and CEO Yosuke Matsuda explained that Dia Horizon is a new project for Square Enix, and he's looking forward to various developments that will be announced going forward. Since it's a "very ambitious project," he hopes that everyone will enjoy it.

Director Keiji Honda also mentions that this IP expresses the feelings of hardship experienced during adolescence, so the audience can enjoy the feeling that they went back tho those times.
