Recently, a few notable figures of the games industry have been promoting events geared toward increasing awareness of mental health. Wired Productions, publisher of The Town of Light, has said that 25% of each digital copy of the game sold will be donated. Behaviour Digital, developer of Dead by Daylight, recently released DLC of which all profits will be donated. Today, an announcement has come from Square Enix to donate up to $25,000 to the Jed Foundation as part of a new campaign.

Square Enix is calling this promotion the Life is Strange: Before the Storm "Your Friend, Me" campaign. It is an effort to celebrate "the power and importance of friendship" by encouraging fans to create and post short videos describing how a true friends has impacted his/her life. Each video should be signed off as if a letter to that friend by saying, "Your friend," and the poster's name.

For each video created and shared under #LifeisStrange and #YourFriendMe, Square Enix will donate $5 to The Jed Foundation (JED) up to a maximum of $25,000 total.

To start the program off right, Square Enix has created video stations near the publisher's booth at GameStop 2017 Expo in Las Vegas.

JED is a nonprofit organization that has pledged itself toward the promotion of emotional health and the protection of today's teenagers and young adults from suicide.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm will launch on August 31 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For more information on the "Your Friend, Me" event, you can visit the website with full rules and details.
