Square Enix Pulls Xenogears Out of Limbo, but Not in the Way You’d Think

Square Enix hasn’t talked about Xenogears for years, but today they suddenly released a teaser site bearing the famous “X” logo.

Unfortunately it isn’t for a remake or remaster, or even for a mobile re-release. It’s for a collaboration with the mecha fighting game for PC Figureheads, that is soon going to enter its open beta phase in Japan.

The exact content of the crossover hasn’t been disclosed, and more information will come on February 23rd. In the meanwhile, you can check out a teaser trailer below.

The game will get a pre-open beta test stage between February 25th and February 26th, and then it will enter open beta proper in March. Registration is available here, even if only those resident in Japan are eligible.

At least we can say that they haven’t forgotten about the franchise. We should always look at the glass half full… Well… 10% full, I guess.
