Square Enix Working on a Fantasy That Isn’t Final

Square Enix recently signed a deal with Epic Games for use of their Unreal Engine, and now we know why. The Tokyo-based developer is working on a brand spanking new action RPG that has nothing to do with Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest.

Information leaked this morning from Famitsu states that producer Ryutaro Ichimura will head the project, who has worked on numerous Dragon Quest games. Square Enix will use the Epic Unreal Engine, which the company previously used for The Last Remnant, to develop the game internally with a staff of 35. The company will be running hiring ads soon to beef up their team — so if you speak Japanese and dream of working on RPGs, you may want to keep your eyes peeled.

The leak also says that Ichimura told Famitsu that it took two years of globe-trotting to design a solid foundation for the game. While none of this is confirmed as of yet, the upcoming issue of Famitsu should ground this rumors and shed a little more light on this mystery RPG.
