We've heard for a while that highly iconic and popular PS1 games like Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI would be coming to the PlayStation Store as downloadable classic titles, and there has been a glut of confusion about when they actually were hitting. Well, today SquareEnix announced their "Winter of RPGs" campaign, happening on the PSN over the coming weeks. (Note to SquareEnix: Winter doesn't begin until December 22nd, and the last game you're releasing is on December 6th. Just a friendly head's up there.)

During that campaign all three of the above titles will see the light of day on the PS Store, to be downloaded and hopefully enjoyed by a whole new generation of gamers. Chrono Cross will be hitting next week, on November 8th. Later in the month we'll get Final Fantasy V, on November 22nd. Finally, one of my all-time personal favorite RPGs ever, Final Fantasy VI will be arriving on December 6th.

Many of us - myself included - enjoy mixing it up with retro games like these, so regardless what else we're playing this Fall and Winter, there will always be some time for classic Final Fantasy. Who's with me?!
