Star Citizen Passes One Million Backers; Crowd Funding Total Now at 92 Million Dollars

Cloud Imperium Games Shared some really big news lately both on Star Citizen‘s single player component Squadron 42 and on the upcoming persistent universe, and the backers keep flowing in.

As I’m writing, Chris Roberts’ upcoming game passed one million backers (1,000,138 to be precise), with the crowd funding total sitting on a flatteringĀ 92,357,319 million dollars.

This also shows that the average level of engagement of the backers is quite high, with each gamer who decided to put his wallet behind the project pledging an average of $92, which is pretty much equivalent to your high tier collector’s edition.

Personally, I’m quite proud of being one of the original backers, having gotten behind the game when some still doubted that it would even reach the Kickstarter goal. Now, there’s no stopping this train.

To celebrate, have another look at Squadron 42‘s opening cutscene and Gary Oldman’s performance.
