For the entirety of the time LGM Games and Iceberg Interactive's Starpoint Gemini 2 has been available via Steam Early Access as a bundle, including with it the original Starpoint Gemini. But now the game is reaching a new stage, and with it a new change.

Starpoint Gemini 2 will soon be exiting its Alpha stage and beginning its Beta stage, although the developers do want to make it clear that it doesn't mean new features will cease, but rather that the Beta will be primarily used for polishing the current features on their list, balancing and bug-fixing gameplay, and getting the game ready for release.

Unfortunately, this also means a change in "packaging" for new customers, who will purchase the Starpoint Gemini 2 beta at a slightly higher price and sans the original game. This won't affect users who have already purchased the game, which is why the publisher is encouraging potential buyers to purchase the game now while it is still in alpha, and currently discounted at 33% off for $15.40 (from $22.99) until March 17th.

For newcomers, Starpoint Gemini 2 lets takes place two years after the end of the second Gemini war, with the rebel Gemini League  whittled down to an ineffective band of freedom fighters. The oppressive Empire has taken back the sector, but there seems to be some kind of mysterious threat that could turn the tide for the rebels. In the game, players will have over 70 unique ships to build and customize, factions to contend with, warp gates to find, and missions to take up.
