For the fifth week leading up to PAX East, developer Undead Labs has continued to uphold its promise to release regular pieces of art from the development of State of Decay 2, as well as to provide details about the game's progress.

In its newest concept art release, Undead Labs has shared a piece that exemplifies how the rural landscapes, which are somewhat unique to State of Decay's setting, might transition into the urban sprawl. According to the artist, this piece was intended to help the developers understand how they would retain the rural tone of the previous title, while also adding elements that suggested a city not far off.

"This image shows a really early (as in before we even announced to the community) exploration into what a more industrial area might look like in State of Decay 2. We were feeling our way through the process of keeping the rural vibe, but add in a little more industrialization. While this exact scene does not appear in the game, you will see elements like factories and railroad tracks."
