Steam Curator System Now Requires Disclosure of Paid Reccommendations

Valve has reworked its Curator policy to account for the possibility of paid endorsement.

The new curator policy states that while paid endorsement is okay, it must be fully disclosed if a curator has “accepted money or other compensation for making a product review or for posting a recommendation.”

This update comes after concerns were raised about what the new Curator system could mean for discovery on the Steam store.

In addition, game developers will now be able to control which Curators appear on their page. As a result, they can hide bad curator statements, or conversely highlight good ones.
