In case you missed the Nintendo Switch event held in Tokyo back on January 13, video game director Suda51 took the stage to tease a new project. During his presentation, the English translator tasked with translating the guests on stage seemed to have trouble understanding the enthusiastic director.
This caused many outlets to address the awkwardness during the livestreamed event and point blame at either Suda51 or the translator, while new comments from Suda51 shed a bit more light on what happened during the event.
During a conversation with DualShockers, we asked Suda51 if he thinks he is difficult to translate and why the translator was so lost during his presentation. Suda51 replied, "There was a prompter, but I stuck to about 80% of the script." He then went on to formally apologize to the translator in our interview and offered to fly to Seattle to have dinner with him. He also added that he hopes no one gives the translator grief about the situation.
Be that as it may, the director concluded his apology by saying, "On the other hand, Nintendo praised me and said it was a great presentation. Foreign people over here probably didn't understand much of what was going on."
Stay tuned for the complete interview where we discuss Suda51's The Silver Case HD Remastered on PS4.
