Every time a new Mario game launches, it's a big deal -- for a Nintendo fanboy like me anyway. With the launch of Super Mario 3D Land quickly approaching, an event for the big day is almost a no-brainer. Those in the New York City area are in luck, because we have details on what's happening in Times Square next weekend. On November 12, starting at 10am, Military Island, on Broadway and 7th Avenue between 43rd and 44th Streets, will host the Super Mario 3D Land event for everyone to enjoy.

If you attend, expect to see life size warp pipes, some trampoline action, and "Mushroom Kingdom" mushroom pizza slices to the first 1,000 consumers onsite that tweet using the hashtag #SuperMario3D. Also be prepared to see cosplayers, Tanooki ears that are featured in the game for fans to wear, and performances from a group of Nintendo characters. And lastly, fans who arrived the earliest will be able to pick up the game at Toys "R" Us in Times Square before the game's official release.

New York City is about to get hit with a heavy dose of Mario. We hope to see everyone there.
