Super Mario Maker for 3DS Only Supporting 2D Play

After arriving last year on Wii U to critical acclaim, a bite-sized version of Super Mario Maker will be coming to 3DS later this year, though has numerous features altered or stripped for the handheld, with new information on the title revealed.

In the official box art for the game that has appeared on multiple retailers (such as the shot below from EB Games Canada), Super Mario Maker for 3DS will only include support for being played in 2D on the 3DS, according to a label on the box art saying “Plays Only in 2D.”

Super Mario Maker for 3DS will release in Japan on December 1st, 2016, followed by its worldwide release on December 2nd, 2016.
