Super Mario Maker Lets You Play as a Pigeon Starting Tomorrow

on January 12, 2016 12:50 PM

Have you ever thought “playing Mario games as a pigeon would be super coo’!” Probably not… but now you don’t have to — Nintendo is beating you to the punch. Starting tomorrow, Super Mario Maker players will be able to access a new event course that will show off and unlock the Yamamura costume. As always, if you have the base game, you will be getting the level for free. To access the level, head to the Event Courses tab in Course World of Super Mario Maker tomorrow.

For those out of the loop, Yamamura is a cartoon pigeon that Nintendo has been using in Japan in various instructional videos to help newcomers. In other words, this is as obscure as they come — don’t worry if you feel out of the loop. The game’s producer and designer, Tezuka and Yamashita, have previously mentioned they are aiming to bring more Western costumes into the fold — hopefully we will see some of that soon!
