With little fanfare, Nintendo's flagship mobile game Super Mario Run added a brand-new multiplayer mode overnight to help address player concerns of lacking content. The new mode, Friendly Run, lets players face-off against people in your friends list in a a Toad Rally-esque levels. However, unlike Toad Rally, Toad Rally Tickets are not required (although there is a daily maximum of five plays) and none of the Toads/coins won or lost will be added to your kingdom in Kingdom Builder.

Super Mario Run launched nearly a week ago today, exclusively on iOS. While the game is currently being harshly criticized in on the App Store for the $9.99 price tag, the game has been immediately successful boasting 40 million downloads in the first four days. Besides the new game mode, Super Mario Run is currently going through a holiday event, offering Christmas-themed objects to decorate your kingdom.
