Super Meat Boy spinoff Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine is the next title to take place in the developer Team Meat's brutal world. The developer has revealed the first details about the upcoming puzzle set in the Super Meat Boy universe.

Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine will take players on a harder and even more brutal journey in classic Meat Boy fashion. Obviously inspired by Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, the new match-4 puzzler tasks players with creating the perfect Meat Boy clone using Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine. The tile-matching puzzle game features a ton of hardcore challenges like massive buzz saws, barrages of missiles, and devious traps deployed to annihilate your clones.

Set in the Super Meat Boy's frantic universe, the new puzzle title features some of the most iconic locations we have seen in the previous titles as well. The upcoming spinoff also incorporates the series' notorious hardcore platforming elements into its tile-matching puzzle formula. "Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine is bringing the hardcore challenge Meat Boy is known for to create a one-of-a-kind blend of puzzle and action gameplay," says the co-founder of Team Meat, Tommy Refenes in the official blog post.

It is worth noting that the puzzler takes place after the events of the last entry in the series, Super Meat Boy Forever. "After meticulously analyzing Meat Boy all throughout Super Meat Boy Forever, the nefarious Dr. Fetus now has all the data he needs to create the perfect Meat Boy clone," reads the game's story description. But to accomplish his goal, Dr. Fetus will have to butcher a good amount of meat clones and create the perfect iteration of Super Meat Boy.

Players will have to endure over 100 hand-crafted puzzle stages and depend on their platforming skillset. Those who have honed their skills and spent a solid amount of time in the Super Meat Boy series will remember some iconic locations from previous games too. From the Hospital to the Salt Factory, expect to see that classic Super Meat Boy flair in the new puzzler's frantic and unforgiving world.

Team Meat states that the Super Meat Boy spinoff has been developed in cooperation with Headup and Thunderful Games. It is safe to say that Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine will test your patience and puzzle-solving skills across multiple platforms this year. The spinoff is set to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime this year.
