Super Smash Bros. for 3DS has been released to the masses waiting to play as their favorite Nintendo characters and beat the crap out of each other, although some are experiencing minor issues trying to connect online without an included day one patch for the total.

Over on Nintendo's support website, the company detailed that a patch (1.0.2) is needed in order for Smash Bros. players to connect to Nintendo Network and play online, as the patch is installed separately from the game and not automatically applied/downloaded when starting up the game. Nintendo's support site details:

As of October 2, 2014, new update data for Super Smash Bros. has been made available for download in the Nintendo eShop. Users will be required to download this update prior to using the software's online multiplayer features. Because of this, we strongly recommend that all Super Smash Bros. players download and install this update data.

Those looking to update their copy of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS to play online multiplayer have a variety of options to choose from, including heading over the Nintendo 3DS eShop to download the update, scanning a QR code on the support page with the 3DS to head to that location, and others you can check out by clicking here.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is now available for 3DS at retail and through the Nintendo 3DS eShop.
