Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Update for amiibo Support Coming in February

on January 14, 2015 10:18 AM

Since their release, the amiibo figurines for Nintendo titles like Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Hyrule Warriors have opened up so many possibilities, and those on the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. won’t have too much longer to wait to get in on the action, as well.

During its new Nintendo Direct this morning, Nintendo confirmed that an update for the New Nintendo 3DS will be coming to Super Smash Bros. for 3DS to enable amiibo support on the handheld console, following the new console’s release in mid February.

Following its original reveal, the New Nintendo 3DS will include a built-in NFC reader compatible with the amiibo figurines – images previously showed that an NFC adapter for regular 3DS devices would be coming in 2015, though Nintendo has not provided any other updates since.

Stay tuned for more information on the amiibo update for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS when it arrives in February.
