Nintendo fans, rejoice – Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is finally here, and the crowds have spoken with joyous appraisal, according to the record-breaking sales posted by Nintendo.
Announced by Nintendo, the company detailed that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has taken the distinction as the Wii U’s fastest-selling title ever, with the game shattering 490,000 units sold since its launch last Friday, November 21st. The numbers from Nintendo indicate sales both from digital and physical copies, with Smash Bros. now overtaking Mario Kart 8‘s record when it released on Wii U last May.
In addition, Nintendo also detailed that the series has officially reached 14 million sales across all titles and platforms, marking an impressive sales number since the series debuted on the N64 back in 1999. Nintendo of America executive vice president of sales and marketing Scott Moffitt also commented on the sales numbers of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, calling the debut “a great start.”
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is available now both physically and digitally through the Nintendo Wii U eShop.
